Turn a lesson into a practice activity.

An educator has an approved lesson and wants an activity for a particular learning objective. The illustrative sequence below follows the task from source material to an activity reviewed by the educator.

Set the learning objective

The educator would identify the approved lesson, the learners’ level and one skill to practise. For a language activity, that might be asking for clarification in a workplace conversation.

Prepare a draft with references

The proposed output would include a short situation, instructions and questions tied to the selected lesson. References and points needing an educator’s decision would stay visible alongside the draft.

Review before sharing

The educator would check the learning objective, factual accuracy, language level and accessibility. They would adapt the activity to their group and decide whether it is ready to share.

WHERE EDUCATIONAL JUDGEMENT MATTERS

A complete draft is not the same as a useful lesson.

For example, a language exercise may use the right vocabulary but ask learners to handle a situation beyond their level. That is a review decision, not a formatting issue. The scenario should help the educator trace the material, spot the mismatch and adapt the task. Its usefulness would be judged by the reviewed activity and the preparation it saves, not by the amount of text generated.

What would make preparation more useful?

A discussion would start with the educator’s current preparation process and the materials they are allowed to use. Privacy, learner needs and institutional requirements would shape the scope. AI literacy matters too: people need to understand the limits of a draft and how to evaluate it.

Define who reviews the activity and what quality and accessibility mean in this context.
Compare preparation effort and the usefulness of the reviewed activity with the current approach.
